We Are The Readiness Collective

Why We Exist…

The Readiness Collective (TRC) is powered by Tactivate, a social impact effort that has been working at the intersection of the military Special Operations veteran, disaster response and entrepreneurial communities for over a decade.

Tactivate continues to develop creative projects to bring veterans, first responders and the community at large together in unconventional ways to promote skill sharing. From climbing gyms, outdoor survival training bars to fitness driven co-working spaces these ventures have thrown off revenue that Tactivate deploys to send specialized volunteer teams into disaster zones worldwide to solve critical challenges.

TRC represents the team’s desire to share the lessons learned and to offer society, hopefully at scale, with a more accessible venue from which to embark on the journey to #MakeReady. If we wish as a society to become more resileint, we first must be ready and proactive readiness is just emerging as a societal movement.

As with all previous projects, TRC is an iterative experiment, a bootstrapped initiative not a polished venture backed business. The success of the effort will depend on whether or not the community takes interest and digs in alongside with us to make it work.

Our Mission

“Forging stronger communities one more capable individual at a time.”

Our Core Values

  • Capability.

One of the most selfless actions is the pursuit of radical self betterment for the purpose of being better able to serve others. The more capable the individual, the stronger the community.

  • Humor.

The ability to maintain perspective, grace and empathy is never more important than in times-of emergency. Stress and panic lead nowhere positive, while humor in light of chaos is often the most healing and powerful tool in fostering collaboration and positive action. This is why we train to cultivate the capacity to maintain perspective no matter the circumstances.

  • Empathy.

Times of stress surface deeply ingrained cultural biases. The capacity to remain empathetic, open minded, and collaborative is critical to establishing collective community capacity.

  • Integrity

Actions taken both prior to and in the face of adversity speak to the integrity of the individual. We train and connect so that others may shake our hands and take a quick gaze into our eyes and know we have given it everything we have to be fully ready to serve.

  • Physicality

To be capable of service and to ensure mental acuity our bodies must be strong.

  • Craftsmanship

Life is a craft and readiness a medium. The more attention to detail and discipline put into honing the craft of readiness, the more powerful the individual and surrounding community becomes.

  • Serendipity

Human interaction between individuals and groups that would not typically intersect often leads to powerful informal relationships and collaborative outcomes. Readiness is a team sport and requires all facets of communities to work together. This is why we create physical spaces to foster collisions across typically siloed cultural, social, and professional divides.

  • TRC Manifesto

“Make the choice to live proactively ready to be of service. Cultivate the skills, mindset and capacity to find equilibrium and peace in chaos. Seek the uncommon privilege of leading and being depended on. Embrace humility and declare war on the vanity of ego. Watch, listen, observe. Be an arbiter of humor with an ability to conjure laughter as your most powerful weapon. Master the trade, competency and ability to be happiest, most productive and at peace in the darkest of times so that you may be a beacon by which others follow and emulate. Learn to physically save and preserve life so that you may appreciate the fragility of our existence. Commit to living this life fully through expressly dedicating yourself to living and caring for others.

  • TRC Oath

“I commit to focus on the proactive betterment of self for the purpose of making ready and being prepared to be of service to others in times of need. Readiness is a discipline and a practice that demands the cultivation of physical and mental skills that I am committed to humbly learning and sharing. Through proactively preparing, learning to keep calm under duress, and acquiring the skills and equipment to be ready to be of utility in uncommon environments I realize that I become a part of a whole… a whole of community approach to making ready to serve.”
